Packed with ingredients that resemble many cult favorite like Pixi Glow Tonic, Biologique Recherché P50, this one is definitely the most sustainable purchase for the wallet.

Bravura is topping my list this year as a favorite skincare brand.  Share some of your favorites!  You can find this at

It’s hot where I am every day.  I don’t remember the last time I wore foundation because I just can’t stand the heaviness of foundation.  Cushions are the way to go.  As one of my favorite cushion (Troiareuke Seoul Aesthetic Cushion) comes to a halting finish, I’m desperately trying to find its replacement.  The Lapothicell cushion provides a slightly lighter coverage but it is one of the most natural coverages I’ve ever seen.

The texture is creamy and the coverage is just heavy enough to hide my imperfections (scars, brown spots, redness) and light enough to feel weightless on the skin, giving it a bright, fresh looking skin.  I feel that this cushion provides a lot more brightening effect compared to others, and the finish is semi-matte with a glow-from-within finish rather than super dewy.  It’s not ashy or pale, just very complementing to my skin tone.   I find some makeup tend to fill in pores or settle into lines and dry spot, this one seems to provide a primer effect where the pores are smoothed and blended seamlessly; and provide moisture to dry patches so it doesn’t appear cakey.  The wear is fabulous on this cushion.  It lasts on me for at least 6-8 hours, and does not smudge.  Also there is definitely sebum control power here, as I don’t feel much oilness of my skin creeping up even towards the end of the day.

If you want that natural ‘no-makeup’ makeup LOOK and FEEL, I highly recommend this cushion.  It comes in two shades, 21 and 23, and I picked 21, which is an excellent match for my NC 15 skin tone.  The quality of the product is beyond my expectations:  Light weight formulation, comfortable on the skin, light to medium coverage, long wearability, and added skin care benefits.

You can find this on Amazon or for $32.

Lapothicell Sensitive Skin Line

Some of my favorite things come in blue, including these Lapothicell Sensitive Line products (Cleansing Water, Peeling Booster and Ceramide Hydra Fluid). I am seriously in love with everything about this brand.  These three products cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate with a moisturizing punch — AND the magic is that it still manages to feel light.
I have ultra-sensitive combination skin.  It’s not uncommon that when I try new product that my skin becomes red, itchy, and sometimes dry with irritation.  Since I have used a few Lapothicell products in the past, I am so comfortable and confident in their ingredients that are designed to be gentle on the skin – yet powerful enough to get results.  I did a full Cosdna analysis of the ingredients of their Sensitive product line and no ingredients were identified as irritating or comedogenic!  The company uses fine quality, highest performing botanical ingredients backed by clinical testing that yield desired results.  Here are my review of their Sensitive Skin Range of products including: Cleansing Water, AC Daily Peeling Booster and Ceramide Hydra Fluid.   These game-changing products are the ones that deserve a permanent place in my getting-ready routine.

Lapothicell Sensitive Cleansing Water

Price: $23 / 200mL

Multi-tasking toner and cleansing water

The cleansing water removes all makeup and impurities without irritation while it helps maintain healthy skin.

Tears-C – unique component which derives from human tear provide deep cleansing to remove makeup and impurities without irritation

Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract – exfoliate by lifting impurities and dead skin cells, smooth and improves skin texture

Pantenol– cleanses and moisturizes

Centella extract – also known as Gotu Kola, well known herb that has anti-inflammatory effects and is rich in saponins that stimulate skin repair and strengthen and strength skin and minimize imperfections

This is not just your typical cleansing water.  Not only does it remove makeup, dirt, oil and cleanse residue, it also mildly exfoliates with dioscorea japonica root extract to help sweeps away dead skin cells, while other botanicals prep and hydrate the skin, revealing brighter skin tone and texture.  My skin has literally never felt clearer, fresher and totally moisturized after using this sensitive water.  Previously I was using a witch hazel toner which has irritated my skin in the past.  This product has not caused any sensitivities at all.  It is absolutely true that this is designed for sensitive skin!  The formulation makes this ‘water’ safer and gentle than the water that comes from my tap and it is sooo convenient.   Some mornings, all I do is a quick swipe of the cleansing water, followed by my other skin care products.  Other ways I have used this are as a midday refresher, or at night after cleansing to whisk away any remaining impurities.

The benefits of exfoliation – clearer, brighter skin and an even skin tone – are obvious.  Face exfoliation products can be risky business for super reactive skin, so finding one that is calming while still does the job is like a dream come true.  Lapothicell AC Daily Peeling Booster feels like a balancing and exfoliating toner without the harsh astringent feel.   Plus, it is gentle enough to remain on skin so you don’t even need to wash it off.   I apply this twice daily after cleansing.  The aloe vera in this provide a cooling effect and plan extracts help to clean and nourish skin.  The results are immediately obvious: Skin feels bouncy, smoother and simply less dull.  It also help to regulate sebum production and preps my skin for other useful products, and even makeup application is smoother.  For delicate skin like mine, I am so glad to have found this Peeling Booster which can be used everyday for the gentlest yet effective exfoliation to soft and more glowy skin.

A great product can do a world of good in one bottle.  I have been loving every product in the Lapothicell Sensitive Skin Line, and this is my favorite!  When I have sensitive skin (guilty of over exfoliation at times), I am still able to use this product, and it does not sting at all; yet calms and nourishes my skin.  This is actually my first products that is formulated with such a high concentrate of ceramide, and I feel that ceramides just works for my skin.  It is super lightweight, yet super luxe lotion that leaves me with baby soft, dewy-drenched skin.  What I absolutely love about this product is that it absorbs so quickly but the amount of hydration I feel on my skin is seriously incredible; resembles that after a good sheet mask session.  It helps to alleviate any area of my skin that seems to be stressed, dried or dull,  and all the while creating a protective barrier on its surface.  I feel that overall my skin is healthier, less ‘tired’ and hydrated when I use it.  It is just such a powerful product that quenches my skin without greasiness, and just perfect for layering under makeup.  The humectant power is long lasting, and naturally fortify my skin and plump fine lines to give a dewy, youthful glow.  The bottle is substantial in size! This is such bang-for-your buck for a highly potent and concentrated ceramide and hyaluronic acid treatment!

Every year, summers take a toll on my skin. The scorching heat, pollution, and humidity causes some damages manifesting in sun spots, hyper pigmentation and discoloration.  My hunt for brightening elixir never stops.  Kotoha is becoming one of my favorite skin care lines that brightens.

KOTOHA is a prestige natural beauty brand, based in London, and established in 2015 by founder Yoko Obata.  The entire product line (skincare and hair care) relies on ‘shoyaku’, a Japanese word for ‘active medicinal herbs’, to keep the skin looking radiant. We already know to look towards the East for the latest skin care innovations. And sometimes, it’s the ancient rituals that have made their way into the modern world of beauty. After all, Japanese Geisha and Chinese empress all shared porcelain and glowing skin thousands of years ago before cleansers, exfoliators, or sunscreens were invented. They created quintessential beauty ideals, and symbolized true femininity and grace, which influenced many prestige, and herbal-based beauty rituals. Founder Yoko started out with incorporating natural herbal ingredients into her own skin care routine; and soon the results were so obvious, and she was encouraged by family, friends and private clients to develop these products into her revolutionary brand, KOTOHA Cosmetics London. Knowing exactly which herbs to choose, and understanding the active ingredients and the right formulations, KOTOHA brings you a line of products using ancient skin care wisdoms from the Far East, to get your skin looking radiant.

Skin Cherish Lavender Cleanser

Price: £30.00 / 110g

What It Is

  • A nourishing cleaning balm

What It Does

  • One step Cleanser that gently melts away makeup and impurities; leaving the skin hydrated and silky smooth

Key Ingredients

  • Sea whip extract (soothes)

How It Looks/Feels/Smells

  • It’s a buttery balm that turn into a milky cleanser, and smells like an aromatic and relaxing blend of herbal flowers

Why I like it

This Lavender Cleanser is by far my favorite product of the bunch.  It is designed to function as one-step oil and water-soluble cleanser.  I scoop a small spoonful into my hand and it feels silky smooth like butter but not heavy.  When mixed with a splash of water, the cleansing balm emulsifies into a light, milky emulsion.   I massage on effortlessly, and the product feels so good that it encourages me to really work it into the skin, which is no doubt good for circulation and a dewy glow.  The smooth and gentle balm removes everything from tenacious eye mascara and eyeliner, dirt and impurities while feeling very moisturizing on the skin; and it really helps to clean up the pores without leaving the skin tight and dry.   The oil component helps to prevent transepidermal water loss, and it leaves my skin simply refined and hydrated.  The water-soluble component makes this so easy to rinse off with no residue whatsoever.  My face feels squeaky clean but not stripped and I’m comfortable in doing one step cleanse when I use this.  I feel that this can be used on dry and oily complexions alike.

Moist Essence Water

Price: £28.00 / 150mL

What It Does

  • Hydrates deeply to refresh skin and give glow; anti-aging and rejuvenating facial toner; prepare skin for other products

Peonia Lactifolia has been used in the Far East for hundreds of years and helped many people develop youthful skin.

How It Looks/Feels/Smells

  • A clear liquid with natural scent; I apply with a cotton pad

Why I Like It

Some toners are meant to cleanse the skin, balance the pH or exfoliate.  This is definitely a moisturizing toner.  It really boosts skin suppleness and hydration level when applied to freshly cleansed skin.  I use this product liberally and enthusiastically because it absorbs so easy and doesn’t saturate on the skin.  It feels incredibly light and indulgent on my skin, like splashing fruit-infused water on the face.  It gives my skin a toned and refined look, and boost the performance of other products.

Brightening Serum

Price: £35 / 50mL

What It Is

  • A dullness-fighting, dark spot lightening serum

What It Does

  • Even out skin tone, brighten and clarify skin, fade spots

Key Ingredients

  • The shoyaku herb mulberry root bark extract was used to treat uneven skin tone and skin pigmentation in the Far East for hundreds of years. Vitamin C – is also highly effective for treating skin pigmentation and freckle. The anti-oxidant moringa makes this serum powerful, yet it is also gentle. It helps skin look bright and clear.

How It Looks/Feels/Smells

  • This serum is really lightweight, highly moisturizing, clear lotion-like consistency; minimal detectable scent

Why I Like it

I am absolutely in love with the luxurious silky serum.  Let’s get this straight, lightening spots takes patience and persistence, so I’m not expecting to see much changes after a few weeks of using.  However, I can attest that this product works fast to completely brighten my complexion, and making the skin look healthier, clearer and plump.  The product is weightless, fast absorbing, and boast the high potency ingredients (vitamin C and mulberry root bark extracts) to back up its brightening claims.   I follow this with the Kotoha anti-aging moisturizer to get the most powerful brightening results.  And overtime, I hope to find that it will help to fade some dark spots.

Anti-Aging Cream

Price: £45.00 / 50mL

What It Does

  • Hydrates skin and protects against aging environmental oxidants
  • Hydrates skin while improving brightness and texture

Key Ingredients

  • This anti-aging cream uses two of the finest ingredients available, ginseng extract and CoEnzymeQ10.  To develop the velvety texture, Kukui nut oil is added, which is native to Hawaii and high in anti-oxidants and contains Vitamin A and C, both traditionally used to treat sun damage. Other selected oils from all over the world include ellagic acid-rich pomegranate oil, hemp oil and rosehip oil.

How It Looks/Feels/Smells

  • Despite the botanical oil infusion, this cream actually feels like a water-based cream, refreshing and hydrating  without creating an oily slick.  It smells clean and natural

Why I like it

This product is formulated for busy women in their 40s who are just starting to experience natural signs of aging, while battling dullness and spots.  This is packed with natural antioxidants derived from Kukui nut oil for skin protection.  This came as a combination with the brightening serum as Kotoha’s ‘brightening set’.  I feel that the cream can be easily layered with its light and easy to absorb texture.  I am digging the creamy silky formula, which glides on beautifully.  Like all their products, I am impressed about how quickly it goes from cream to a light lotion texture as it sinks into the skin.  I don’t like products that lingers too long because I’m always rushed for time in the morning, and this one I can follow with sun screen right away.

The best part is that KOTOHA’s products are all natural and are free from well known toxic ingredients such as Paraben, SLS, SLES, artificial fragrances and artificial colours. Products are available only at KOTOHA London. As a first time client, you will receive a Special offer of a 10% discount.

I picked this for its ability to prevent and treat lines and scar, helps clear dark marks naturally and speeds up skin’s own healing process.  This is a more intense sister of the Facial oil, so I only use a little and once to twice a week.  The ingredients are really top notch: shea butter and macadamia oil offer invaluable antioxidants in the form of Vitamins A & E and essential fatty acids.  Evening primrose, rosehip and carrot oils bathe the skin in moisture and calendula, plantain and gotu kola promote elasticity and tone.  I warm up the product in the palm of my hand the the application is so smooth and absorbs surprisingly quick for an intensely nourishing formula, without leaving a slick behind on the skin.  Skin is left feeling softer and suppler as a result.  The medley gives way to a unique soothing scent like nothing I’ve smelled before, giving it an extra boost that is wonderfully calming, rich and luxurious, and so perfect to use to relax before bed.

I need to try  more of INLIGHT products!  They offer a few gift packs filled with travel size versions of their most popular products like the Indulgence Collection, Mum’s Collection, Night Deluxe, Super Food Delight, Try Me Collection, Pamper Me Collection, and Body Beautiful Collection.  They also have a weekly finishing touch including uplifting and rejuvenating Super-Food or warming and indulgent Inlight Chocolate Face Mask to enhance suppleness and moisture once a week.  Have you tried it?

Back to Basics: Pyunkang Yul

py1When your skin, or mind is overwhelmed by the abundance of super products promising complexion transformation, there is ‘too much of a good thing’. A few selected beauty brands are making it easy to get back to basics, including Pyunkang Yul. The company is paring it down to the essentials, using natural ingredients at the right concentration, and with a minimalist approach to skin. I’ve seen their products popping up on many social media feeds. When StyleKorean Style Blog editor Stella introduced it on their social media and website, I knew I had to give it a try.

Why  stylekorean_logo
StyleKorean is killing it in the beauty retail game, whether you are looking for products for hair, lifestyle, hard to find sheet mask, natural or organic K beauty. What makes them stand out? the online experience is superb with hundreds of candid product reviews and exclusive deals ALL THE TIME. They have a global mindset, as the website is available in English, Chinese and Japanese to enhance the comfort of their shoppers. More than a retailer, StyleKorean is packed with makeup tutorials, colour trend reports, get-the-makeup look tips and product recommendations. It has a strong editorial component (Style Blog), and the style editor Stella is on point with new picks and product reviews. Their social media editor must have a really good understanding of online behavior because they update daily makeup videos and tutorials showing off their best sellers and products. It’s hard not to pay a visit to their website after seeing these posts. If you can deal with waiting for a few weeks for shipping, the wide selection and good prices more than make up for it. Shipping cost is calculated by weight and differs depending on the shipping method and destination country.

Okay, now About Pyunkang Yul
Pyunkang Yul is the brand launched by the renowned Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic in Korea, an institution well-known for treating all types of skin disorders. What attracted me is not only their natural and minimalist approach to skin care, but their overall holistic approach. This has always resonated with my belief pertaining to skin care: skin cannot be treated as a separate entity from the rest of the body. Pyunkang embraces this inside-out approach: good skin requires good mind, body, emotions, lifestyle and of course, good product choices. Their ultimate goal is to encourage people to achieve a proper balance in life and thus finding your skin’s balance and resting point. Carrying through this philosophy into their brand, they have removed all unnecessary chemical substances and only the most gentle, safest, yet effective and active natural ingredients are used to help find the optimum balance for your skin.

I have combination skin, and the following products are recommended to be the most suitable for my skin type.

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner

Price: $17.75/ 200mL
Ingredients: Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Arginine

Screen Shot 2017-06-25 at 3.37.06 PM.png

Just six months ago, I was debating: do toners play a critical role in a skincare regimen, or are they an unnecessary extra time/extra step? Now I cannot imagine my routine without a toner. It is such an essential step because a good toner not only helps to restore skin’s natural pH balance but also allows all the other products to absorb nicely.  This toner is an essence-like toner which means it is enriched with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients to help balance and prep the skin.  There is no water in this toner, as it is formulated with 91.3% Milk Vetch Root Extract (astragalus), full of skin-beneficial vitamins and minerals, antioxidant and and phytochemical (isoflavonoids and flavonoids) with effects to re-energize and replenish the skin.  The texture is super light and so smooth and just glides on the skin.  I like to apply my toners with my hands, and simply pat this in and let the formula absorb on its own.  Once it gets absorbed, my skin feels so hydrated and refreshed.  The key to finding the right toner is to identify your skin type and your main skin needs.  If you’re looking for a gentle, alcohol-free toner that adds a fine layer of moisture to the skin while refreshing, calming, and healing, this is the ideal choice.

Moisture Serum

Ingredients: Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Butylene Glycol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 60, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Arginine, Dimethicone
While a 10 step routine is not for me everyday, the step of ‘serum’ is so critical as it offers me targeted results with potent formulation and customization options.  For the summer time, I’m looking for a lighter product that can help me to battle the heat and the oil yet still keep my skin hydrated, and provide my thirty-something skin with anti-aging benefits.  Dare I say, this Pyunkang Yul serum is a perfect summer serum.  I would describe the texture as a silky and lotion-like, making it spread and absorbs quickly.  The secret in this fabulous texture is in just the right combination of star ingredients, including coptis japonica root extract and olive oil.  The oil component helps to prevent water moisture from evaporation,  while extracts of Coptis Japonica Root helps to cool and calm the skin to help find the optimal balance between moisture and oil.  It also has anti-inflammatory and phytoprotective effects against UV induced oxidative damage in the skin.  I feel that the serum is beautifully hydrating yet mattifying and provides sebum balance, and helps to sooth redness, truly making it perfect for balancing variety of skin types.

Moisture Ampoule

Price: $26.16/100mL
Ingredient: Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Polysorbate 80, PEG-150 Distearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 20, Glyceryl Caprylate

This Pyunkang Yul Moisture Ampoule contains only 6 ingredients designed to calm and hydrate the skin.  Like most Korean ampoules, this one is formulated with a combination of natural extract (coptis japonica root),  and a few skin-friendly stabilizers.  The product is potent containing 90% of its main ingredient, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, and is specifically designed for combination to oily skin. The root extract is a powerful skin calming and hydrating ingredient.  Pyunkang Yul recommend using the ampoule as the last step of the routine after a moisturizer, and this will help to seal all the moisture in the skin and keep the skin cool.  The texture is a little bit thicker than most ampoules I’ve used.  It has a bit of a gelatinous feel, bouncy and moist. I feel that product with gel consistency are great for the summer time because it’s provides the lightest layer of hydration without any oils and thus least likely to be pore-clogging.  I would recommend to follow the instruction by applying this after a moisturizer, because it is meant to help hold the moisture in.  I will admit to having skipped using moisturizer a few times, and a few dry patches where my skin had previously been irritated, did not seem to maintain as hydrated.  Therefore this product is true to its description, in that it is designed for those with combination or oily skin.  If your skin does not tend to produce enough oil on its own, then the Balancing Gel may be more appropriate.  Lastly I love products that are dispensed in a dropper form, because I can have precise control of the amount of product to be dispensed. and makes application that much easier.  For this ampoule, two drops are enough to cover my whole face.

Balancing Gel

Price: $29.90 / 100mL
Ingredients: Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Polysorbate 80, PEG-150 Distearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 20, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Caprylate

The 7 premium ingredients contain 90% Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, a powerful anti-ager, and Jojoba Seed Oil that helps to moisturize and nourish the skin.  Astragalus is a heart root, and in Chinese medicine, this root replenishes ‘chi’ or ‘vital life energy’ by improving circulation to the skin, helps to get rid of toxins and transports vital nutrients to the skin.  It also helps to regenerate skin cells.  Jojoba oil is unique in that it closely resembles sebum, a waxy substance produced by our skin gland, so it is readily accepted and tolerated.  Our own sebaceous glands then respond to it by down regulating sebum production.
‘Balance oil and moisture’ has been a consistent theme in all of Pyunkang Yul’s products.  The Balancing Gel comes in a jar with a clear plastic spatula.  When you apply this product, it looks and feels like honey, that stretches and helps it to adhere onto the surfaces of the skin.  Gentle massage of the product allows it to melt into the skin for a smooth, soft and bouncy finish.  Because jojoba oil is a ‘waxy’ substance, it means that the product can seal in the moisture like an oil, without the greasy feel.  This Gel definitely feels ‘thicker’ than its ampoule counterpart and thus is designed for those with dry skin.  It is also recommended to be applied at the end of the routine after a moisturizer, so it can seal in all the other product goodness while creating an effective barrier to external elements.  I use this Balancing Gel as my last step of routine at night.

Final Thoughts

I feel like all the Pyunkang Yul products I tried are perfect additions to a summer routine.  They are all super lightweight, apply smooth and absorb quickly, perfect for warmer weathers, when I like things light and fresh, without compromising the hydration factor.  Not only are the ingredients minimalist in number, they are also very skin-friendly, hypoallergenic, paraben free and fragrance free.  Pyunkang Yul designed their products with only the most gentle and safe ingredients, yet tailored the texture and products with different skin types in mind.  The apothecary packaging allows you to be able to see the product and they really pack them to the rim! Nothing short of a perfect harmony between simplicity, innovation and sophistication.

Transition To Summer – Whamisa Organic Flower/Apple Sebum Treatment

Summer is coming, and that means transitioning my skin care to lighter products that will help me combat the oily t-zones that comes with sunny and humid weathers. In comes Whamisa! I learned about Whamisa through my search for ASIAN AND NATURAL skin care products and found it at BeautEastSphere ( For those European based skin care addicts who are ready to take the plunge into natural beauty, BeautEastSphere is worth digging through for their natural and organic selections. It really is great for someone like me who loves Korean and Asian skin care, am ingredient conscious yet am a little less adventurous because of sensitive-prone skin. It takes the guessing game out of out shopping when I know that every products on their website are free of unnecessary chemicals, fillers, parabens or additives. Additionally, they want their customers to fall in love with their products, ingredients and result, so that skin care is not just a trend to follow, but a commitment to yourself to treat with care and love. Currently they carry a limited but highly selected brands including Aeria Skin, Blossom Jeju, Whamisa, Make P:rem, Polatam and the Konjac Sponge Co. Their founder – Chana is a sweetheart to talk to and will answer any of your questions.

About Whamisa
“Wha” in Korean means “flowers”, which symbolizes the magical and miraculous power of the fermented flowers behind this brand. Everything in Whamisa products, even down to the packaging is good for you. They are formulated with the concept of organic and double fermentation, where botanical ingredients such as rose, aloe vera, rice and organic apple are fermented into smaller molecules to facilitate deeper absorption of their essential nutrients and ingredients. It’s also appealing in its waterless formula. This has been in my previous review. Instead of using water in product formulation, it uses botanical plant juices like aloe vera to maximize the active ingredients and thus is much more result-driven. It also means that a little product can go a loooong way because every part of their products are created to be safe and effective. The company also put emphasis on packaging so it looks as fabulous on your nightstand as it does on your face, and makes for great photo opportunities =)

Directions: Apply after toner or essence. Pat gently until absorbed.

The ingredient list is 96.00% organic. Here’s a breakdown
Hydrating: Aloe, tea leaf, paeonia, cucumber, bergamot
Brightening: apple, caemllia, licorice
Anti-inflammatory: camellia, dandelion
Sebum control and balancing: lactobacillus, salicylic acid, lemon
This list is packed with a lot of active ingredients from botanical extracts to help keep the skin conditioned and hydrated. Fermentation of the ingredients, notably organic apple are naturally acidic so they serve as a gentle exfoliator for your skin.  This helps the skin to remain balanced and regulate sebum production.  Acidity discourages bacterial growth, so it keeps the skin calm and minimize breakouts.  Fermentation also act as a natural preservative (think kimchi) so it reduces the need to add any unwanted chemicals to ensure lasting effect.  I am also a big fan of pump bottles.  I feel it is the most hygienic way of dispensing the appropriate amount of product.

This product is light, refreshing and clean!  It has the consistency of a light essence, yet creamy white colour of a lotion.   It absorbs very quickly without any stickiness and leaves the skin moisturized, illuminated and toned in a 1 single step.  Many ‘sebum control’ products are astringents and skin-stripping, while this product helps me balance the oil while also keeps my skin HYDRATED, and brightened throughout the day.  Normally I have to blot my face frequently throughout the day.  Since I started using this product, my face feels so much less oily and the result is comparable to my Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder, but with much more skin benefiting ingredients.  I get occasional acne breakouts or whiteheads along the chin, and it is much less frequent since I’ve incorporated this into my routine. Overall, I feel that this product really does what it claims: minimize shine, moisturize and mattify AND it’s organic and natural.  I would recommend this to anyone with combination or oily skin who’s looking for a product that can maintain shine-control and yet still hydrates and plumps the skin.

You can find this product along with many other natural and summer-loving skin essentials from BeautEastSphere  Photo below are some of the other lovely natural brands that they carry.

My Skin Care Journey

I know it’s terrible, but there has been many times when I choose the perfect foundation over sun protection, or forgo cleansing my face prior to going to bed.  Now that I’m in my thirties, I’m starting to see some of the havocs of these bad habits.  I am ‘faced’ with stubborn sun spots on my cheeks and around the eyes, and hormones are kicking in, giving me more acne that I’d ever experience since my teenage years.  A couple of skin-saving tips that are ever so simple have made big differences in my skin care: the way I cleanse my face and wearing sun screen.  Now for me, sunscreen isn’t an option. I need to wear it everyday, rain or shine.  Here I’m going to review one of my favorite sunscreen from a company called Lapothicell.  I’ve really grown to love all the products from Lapothicell.  A friend had recommended this brand from Korea and I just had to try.  Their products appealed to me because the company uses fine quality, highest performing botanical ingredients backed by clinical testing that yield desired results.  The packaging accentuates product visibility while balancing a modern simplistic aesthetic and ease of usage. My favorites are their sun screen and Sensitive Skin Cleansing Water.

Antiaging For The Eye – Supia Black Pitera Eye Filler

Company Highlight
Supia is founded by a number of Korean local entrepreneurs working with strong sponsorship with SBS Korea TV and Entertainment industry.  Their working philosophy is ‘love nature’, with the specific focus on using only natural ingredients.  They aim to create a brand with a perfect blend of traditional Korean natural health practices and advanced science of western biotechnology, packaged into sophisticated and elegant skin care solution.  Since founding in 2014, the natural skin care philosophy is gradually penetrating throughout Asia, and be sure to look out for them if you are looking to incorporate green beauty into your Asian skin care routine, like myself.  Supia’s star ingredient is black pitera, or yeast (Aureobasidum Pullulans) extract.  Sounds familiar?  That’s because most skin care fanatics like myself would recognize pitera as the star ingredient in the luxury Japanese skin care brand, SK-II.
What is Pitera?
It is a natural by-product of yeast fermentation.  It is rich containing amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and organic acid.  Ingredients like these are generally thought to be helpful for achieving healthy skin because they provide skin cells with the necessary nutrition to regenerate themselves, and provide protein for repair of supporting structures such as collagen and elastin in the skin.  Supia’s products are developed to infuse skin with black pitera in an effort to stimulate cellular repair and promote more efficient skin regeneration, thus improve skin lucency and decrease wrinkles.  It also helps to reduce pigmentation by releasing enzymes that powerfully degrade melanin, the substance that produces pigment in skin and thus lighten dark spots.
In addition to the star ingredient, Supia also uses a ‘waterless’ technology which I mentioned in a previous post.  In lieu of water, they uses ferment liquid of black yeast, and thus the products contain only the highest concentration of active ingredients.  Additionally it contains unique botanical formulation of bio-active stem cells from green tea, herbs, and other selected plants.  Rich in polyphenols and phytosterols, these vital anti-oxidants reduce toxin in the skin and reverse signs of aging of skin cell.
One of my favorite products from Supia is the Supia Black Pitera Eye Filler

Butylene Glycol. Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil. DipotassiumGlycyrrhizinate, GlycelylCaprylrate
Eye cream comes in very small pots with big promises.  This eye cream features a synergistic combination of six carefully selected mushroom extracts and gentle plant-based ingredients to nourish and smooth skin around the eyes.  I did not know this, but mushroom are well known as wondrous drug containing an abundance of polysaccharide, amino acid and beta glucan, with anti-aging and moisturization effects.  It also contains niacinamide and arbutin for brightening effect; as well as hyaluronic acid that fill in fine lines, giving a skin tightening effect.  For me, important features of a great eye cream include texture, absorption and of course, visible results.  The secret is finding the one that really delivers on the specific issues you want to address.  As someone who chronically suffer from eye area dryness and bags, I was blown away by how hydrated, plump and bright my eyes appeared after just one week of twice-daily use.  The texture is my favorite part about this product.  It is so rich, yet lightweight; so silky and just applies effortlessly.  It has a cooling sensation and instantly smooth out even the tiniest lines and imperfection, and quickly dry without a hint of grease or sticky residue.  This is great hydrating eye cream that instantly awakes the eye area, improves the resilience of the skin around the eyes and make it so soft to touch.
